"Harmony" Landrum

From the start of her third pregnancy, Simone Landrum knew something wasn’t right. Constant headaches, sensitivity to light, and swelling were just a few of the symptoms that eventually led Simone to quit her job and address her problems. However, after visiting her doctor, Simone felt as if her complaints had been brushed aside.

At a prenatal appointment days before her baby shower, Simone’s blood pressure was recorded as 143/86. This reading in addition to her other symptoms points to the possibility of preeclampsia - dangerously high blood pressure during pregnancy.

A mere four days later, six weeks before her due date, Simone was rushed to the hospital where she was told she was lucky to be alive. A few hours later, her stillborn daughter Harmony was brought to her.

Looking back on how her doctors handled her pregnancy complications, Simone felt like she had just been thrown away. Not only did she feel angry towards how she was treated, but she felt as if she failed her two sons - something had been taken from not only her, but them as well.
